Mwalimu Nyerere's leadership School located in Kibaha Coast region was established to serve in southern Africa and was named after Mwalimu Nyerere in honor of leading the struggle for independence in southern Africa. Mwalimu Nyerere School is a joint effort by the six liberation movements in southern Africa which are currently the ruling parties where their countries gained independence were supported by Nyerere and the OAU which were granted asylum in Tanzania. The parties are the Revolutionary Party (CCM), the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and the South West African People's Organization (SWAPO) of Namibia, the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front ( ZANU-PF) and Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO)
